Through the Storm is the upcoming single by folk/pop group Oslo Brown from their debut EP 120.
On the whole I was impressed by this track that they seemingly produced out of nowhere. One day they announced an EP was being created, next thing I knew there it was and it boasts some great tracks, tight production and a fine translation of the energy and soul they put into their live performances.
The track begins with a crisp and well recorded acoustic guitar melody performed by the awesome musician Olivia. Soon after that enters a rolling, full bass tone of Charlie’s U-Bass which forms the fun and quirky rhthym section that is Oslo Brown. As the song progresses the listener is treated to great song structure, a chorus that will stay with you for weeks and lyrics that are both romantic and uplifting. Carl McWilliams’ guitar solo and choice of effects compliment this band perfectly giving them a twist that isn’t found often inside the NZ pop circle.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Oslo trio during my time in the National Battle of the Bands and was immediately attracted to the nice people, sweet gear and sultry, smooth tunes of this talented group. Their full EP 120 is available to purchase now through their social networking sights and will be a joy to listen to.
I personally cant wait to see what the future holds for this talented group and look forward to their future performances.
