The Finer Details

When a band becomes sponsored by sunglasses and clothing labels, what would you expect?

These guys are pretty tight when it comes to musicianship, but some of their song writing is a bit high school. The blunt style of the lyrics could be the downfall of this set of catchy, but not very intellectually challenging songs.

It is with good reason Brutally Frank have been on The Rock’s ‘Off The Record’, and I’m sure many classic rock fans will adopt Brutally Frank as their new favourite band, but I can’t help wondering how long it will be until their songs are used merely for children’s cartoons theme songs or horror movie credits.

Don’t get me wrong though, Brutally Frank are certainly owning their element, and I’d expect to see more of these guys performing alongside the likes of Supernova or Van Halen (minus the solos).

On that note, it would’ve been great to hear the guitarist let loose every now and then. When opening the record you expect to hear some good old grungy solos, but there is none of that, which was a bit disappointing. Apart from that the singer can sing, well. Keep doing what your doing guys, because I’m sure there is that niche market out there for you.

So if you are into rock, then get Brutally Frank’s new album ‘The Finer Details’. It is full of rock goodness.
