Tempo 38 were the second act to open for The Bleeders at their Palmerston North gig @ The Globe on Thursday the 20th of April 2006.
Tempo 38 started where Black Chrome left off and didn’t miss a beat in keeping the crowd worked up. Even those that had not heard of Tempo 38 before were rocking along to the music and they treated Tempo 38 as though they were just as much of a local act as Black Chrome is.
The amount of energy that Tempo 38 put into each song was truly inspirational and each member of the band showed an amazing amount of passion for the music that they played. Parry’s vocals were mind-blowing and everyone loved it.
Tempo 38 is signed to the record label Hit Your Head Records, and the name says it all. This is the sort of music that you shouldn’t just tap your feet to – it is the sort of music that you need to really hit your head and move your whole body to. You cannot get away with sitting on the sidelines, you have to get involved. Tempo 38 really know how to play and their experience shows in their music.
Best Tempo 38 song of the night: Con.

I’m Lisa, Muzic.NZ’s founder and manager. I also manage the Aotearoa Music Industry Collective as well as the Aotearoa Rock Community and the Gig Space Facebook groups. I’ve been interested in music for as long as I can remember – I grew up listening to my parent’s records and watching the Top 40 Countdown on TV every weekend. I also played the drums and guitar in high school, and wrote lyrics for some of my friend’s bands. I come from a musical background; my Granddad was one of the main founders of country music clubs in Taranaki. Rock is my favourite genre of music, but I enjoy a huge variety of genres from old school hip-hop through to metal, punk, pop, folk and EDM. My advice to NZ musicians’ is to build yourself a great support network, never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and talk to
