Single/video Review: Pipz 1

Something Zesty is a Whanganui based musical artist who captured my attention first by the bold claim that the latest offering is “an unmistakable dance-floor hit” and secondly by the vibrant and appropriately spaced out animated video which turned out to be the perfect accompaniment to his latest release; Pipz.

The music video is the second animated adventure for two curious looking characters, Chambzy and Zestro, following on from Something Zesty’s first single Mad About It. Isaac Chamberlain is the person behind the original self-animated video and self-produced song and his flair for unique illustration is evident. Mad skills, right there.

The music of Something Zesty which has been doused with a good splash of techno, has been described as adding “free flow funk to a chaotic world”. There certainly is a catchy element of infectious electronic and funkadelic creativity on this track.

Clever rhyming of the lyrics and enough bass to rattle your bones, coupled with the funk infused beep-pop makes Pipz a contender for the aforementioned “unmistakable dance floor hit”. Crank it up loud and repeat several times. It will be stuck in your head in no time.
