A tenderly plucked guitar leads to some nice rhythmic strums, which is then united with a suitably soothing vocal, it’s a nice start that presents well the songs musical quality. In your Mind is a beautiful sounding song that also delivers a clear message, a message that many will find heartening to see presented as it is in the music video. The obvious subject matter is clear in the song’s lyrics and in the video, which is all acted out with no pretensions, this is a song about mental health, its many faces and the journey that one may inevitably need to take.
The story that unfolds will no doubt benefit many sufferers with its unassuming narrative that helps to demystify it to some extent, you’re not alone and there is hope and understanding. The video shows singer songwriter Scott MCB playing his guitar and singing on a park bench where he is joined by a girl with a blue mask, she has a name tag which says “depression”, the masks colour and theme change from “Anxiety”, to “Self-doubt”, which aptly needed to be re-applied! In the end there is “Hope”, the song lifts and stirs your emotions, it’s all very powerful.
The musical instrumentation is uplifting and joyful, almost denying its deeper themes. The delicate tune is held together nicely with a very melodic vocal that builds to a crescendo of glorious harmonies. The music couples well with the message and the video in a very creative way, it conjures an emotional response which thankfully considering its subject matter, in the end is a positive and constructive one.
