Single Review: Waiting Game 1

Corduroy. have just released their 2nd Single Waiting Game. The song starts off with a drum roll and the full sound of the band starts up with a melodic riff that reminds me of The Strokes, the riff is very catchy by guitarist Will Cole. The vocals come in with Rosie Spearing’s unique warm singing style.

The lyrics sound like a story of two people in a relationship and one of them is making the other wait by ignoring them, the relationship is hanging on a thread of time. The band sounds tight on the chorus and Rosie’s vocals takes the song to another level. The band and vocals sound very professional on the chorus its interesting, catchy and would be a great dancing song.

There’s an extra extension of the chorus from the middle of the song and at the end, really loving the drumbeat and synths working together on this part. Its followed by a breakdown or bridge that’s held together by the synths while the rest of the band are playing chords that enhance the melody line by Simon Kenrick on synths. This would be a cool build up on Live shows. The song finishes on the chorus which is the strongest part of the song.

Corduroy are on fire with this new single. A very tidy production from start to finish. I had this on repeat on headphones for an hour, the song is smooth, and the extended chorus was my favourite part. These guys are young and have loads of potential. A great sounding band.
