Single Review: Small Ache 1

Iris Zhang is a lawyer by qualification, but a musician by heart. She is an incredibly talented young lady, not only academically but also in the musical arts. Iris has just released her first original single, Small Ache. A wonderfully lush song of warm tones and incredible harmonies.

From the onset of Small Ache, you are wrapped in graceful, poetic words backed by strong melodious vocals, the lyrics offering up a reflective contemplation of a past relationship.

Starting out as a pop song with RnB elements, this slowly progresses into a distinctive Jazz number complete with an evocative saxophone solo. Small Ache is an alluring mix of different genres.

Iris offers up a crystal clear sound of stunning honeyed vocals, partly attributed to performing in countless choirs, churches and competitions. She has developed a dedicated fan base online and her covers have received positive attention from several established artists. Most notable, Shawn Mendes.

Iris Zhang has a voice that touches your heart, combined with the talent to write lyrically. Small Ache is a beautiful song and I look forward to hearing her first EP which is planned for release in 2021.
