Single Review: Nothing Ever Happens 1

There are ear worms.

Then there is this little snaky bastard of a tune from Big Scout.

It comes on like a nursery rhyme (nursery rhymes are the snakiest bastard ear worms of all) written by three post 20/30/40 somethings from Blenheim who really don’t / do give a shit what you think.

Nothing Ever Happens is very now. Capturing the zeitgeist so eloquently bottled by the likes of Idles and Sleaford Mods

But Big Scout are from Blenheim and Nothing Ever Happens is soooo Kiwi. Capturing and lamenting/lampooning a little slice of every day in paradise. It is also all the better for it. Don’t believe me just watch the accompanying video on YouTube.

This little ditty rocks back and forth and instantly gets its claws into your psyche. 30-seconds in and if you aren’t singing along you are dead from the neck up.

Is it cool to sound like Big Scout right now? Yep.

Do they give a shit about being cool? I doubt it.

Have they just released an NZ classic?

ABSOLUTELY!
