Single Review: Moments 1

Moments is the second single from the upcoming debut album from Late Model European collaborators Tones Thorburn and John Nelson, and there’s plenty to enjoy about this track.

With a lovely, delicate piano intro heralding a well-produced and well-balanced offering, the musicianship on Moments is enjoyable throughout, especially the feature string section which provides the epic feel that Late Model European are reaching for.

What detracts somewhat for me is the overly complicated melodic line for the vocals. It makes it seem a bit too fussy for its stated purpose of truly soaring as an epic ballad. As a result, I didn’t feel that John really got the opportunity to kick off in the vocals, as he most definitely is capable of doing. Otherwise this is an enjoyable single and it’s well worth taking the time to listen to it. I’m looking forward to hearing the whole album when it’s released.
