Single Review: Mistakes 1

Auckland three-piece pop group The Kendals have released their second single Mistakes. An atmospheric analogue sounding track with a distinctive synth-pop sound.

The Kendals comprise of Lucia Hocking-Whitehead , James Dalton and Michael Redwood. They have been described as a “unique pop act that can deliver a host of emotions through their lush sound”. Mistakes is rich with moody vocals and delicate layered harmonies. Lucia delivers expressive lyrics in an ethereal manner.

The retro vibe of this single, which is partly attributed to by the keyboard playing gives this track added interest. A subtle reminder taking you back to days when 80’s synth-pop ruled the world.

Information surrounding The Kendals (with one L) is sparse; however, the images I came across showed a ruminative, pensive “Lorde-esque” trio. They are a polished pop act who look like they mean business with a unique and marketable sound.
