Single Review: Gotta Let Go 1

Gotta Let Go is the new contemporary anthem from Eve Kelly, a vocalist born and raised in Whakatane. Eve grew up performing in music theatre around Aotearoa, as well as singing in national competitions and at smaller gigs such as weddings and local fundraisers. Eve chose to travel after school and landed herself a spot on the Princess cruise lines, which she highly admires as part of her journey. Eve plans to continue travelling and performing, however she also has a big solo goal to create an album in the next year!

Gotta Let Go is a song about being alone again, single and trying. It’s piano driven, and very soulful. Her lyrics are bold, and her vocals have a powerful lower range that grip the listener. If anyone can relate to letting go and starting fresh, this is the track for you! Eve says goodbye to the past, and freely opens her heart in this tune to what’s coming next.

I applaud the bravery and independence of many new young artists. It seems the time where music’s digital shift is causing talk left, right and centre. However, this song is a testament to musicians that do genuinely try to keep a band playing, and work on their core talents. I ask the people of Aotearoa to ask themselves… Shouldn’t we be supporting this bravery? Shouldn’t we look after those starting out? What would you have wanted when you were a budding musician? Eve Kelly has a voice that will go far, and we look forward to her album release with open arms.

About the author Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

If I could come up with enough reasons to do music I’d be here all day. ‘Cause theres heaps. And… that’s why I’m here. A seemingly dead beat industry. Here to tell you it’s not! Anyway… I’ve been with MNZ five years. I love writing and do a bit of fun stuff on the side. I run. Love animals. People. Beer. Shhh. Haha! And I love to help others read about and understand the great local talents and bands we have here that should thrive! Because, why not?…
