Float Out is about the process of letting things go, moving forward, learning from your past experiences, growing as a result. As such, the track has an intrinsically emotional weight to it. Vocally speaking, This Pale Fire’s singer-songwriter Corban Koschak, has a similar style to that of Coldplay’s Chris Martin; with silky falsettos and some reasonably deep lows.
With some simple guitar strumming and trickling keys, the vocal component is the focal point, and is comforting to the ear. Gradually building throughout the track, with some gorgeous harmonies in the chorus, Float Out actually feels too short. Cut short, as if ending only a third of the way through the track, the ending is abrupt and uncalled for. Leave the people wanting more, but this walks the line of not giving enough in the first place.
Otherwise, well balanced and clean, Float Out keeps in the rawness of the track with the naturally expected string noise which complements the grain of his voice oh so well. It runs at a reasonably upbeat pace, but still makes you want to just close your eyes and contemplate your decisions in life. Suitable, considering the lyrical content.

About the author butch181

Hey there! I’m Alex. Long time music lover, long time reviewer, and now I finally get to combine those and be a music reviewer! As a guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, I have a great appreciation for musicianship and the technicalities that go along with a group of people making music together. My genres of preference tend to gravitate towards Punk/Rock/Heavy/Metal, but I also like to dabble in some Classical, Pop, and even some Drum and Bass. Hope you enjoy my contributions!
