Single Review: Envy 1

More than just a progressive Metal band, All I Seek have coalesced many of the best Alt Metal styles around, including at times Melodic Death (with a slight Djent edge) into their rip-roaring third single, Envy.

This massive four-minute track fills a gap in New Zealand’s current progressive Metal scene and the juxtaposition of the songs uplifting message, delivered during mid-winter, makes it a very well timed release.

Somewhat reminiscent of Living Colour’s Corey Glover, lead singer James S Gill’s perfect pitch, trailing vibrato and formidable power is the glue that sticks this track together. To say that he can hold a tune is a complete understatement.

For a band with four guitarists, All I Seek certainly knows how to create space. This is great for building anticipation into Envy’s formidable and memorable choruses. A first-rate arrangement combined with a perfect mix shows that these five guys from Wellington are onto a winning combo.

Delivering a broad wall of sound that every good Metal band should be seeking, Envy ticks all the boxes. Make sure you check it out today.
