Single Review: Dress The Same 1

Stomping garage Rock n Roll. Iggy Pop like vocals preach at me; ”WE ALL DRESS THE SAME!”

You get the sense in the latest tune from Auckland four-piece Superturtle that they’re not just pointing at the basic superficialities of how we clothe ourselves, but the regimented, and some may say ever growing, homogeneity of daily life. Cue the ultimate antidote… post punk infused noise.

Dress the Same is the third single from Superturtle’s upcoming album Wait For It and has an unmistakable analogue band feel. With a roominess that wouldn’t be out of place on late 90’s Pearl Jam record, this “foot stompin’ sing-a-long rocker with just a hint of the Goth” is a proper earworm and groover too. It begs you to scratch your itch to break the mould, yell its chorus in all its ‘Bliss’ like glory and cast yourself free of the safety blanket that is being a part of a crowd

With the hook stuck in my head as I wander to work, it seems so obvious. We are all just the same.
