Single Review: Crooked Magic 1

Christchurch four-piece blues rock band Hypnumb have released a gutsy new single entitled Crooked Magic. A strong grungy, bluesy classic rock number that is indeed magic. It is a song about allowing judgment without compassion slide off your back.

Relatively new rocking kids on the NZ music scene, Hypnumb have been “unleashing dirty blues” since 2017. Considering the band has only been together a couple of years, they have been busy spending months gigging up and down the country, including a tour of the UK this year. They have a nostalgic, gritty, sexy rock sound which lead vocalist “swaggering rock banshee” Bex Barret absolutely nails with her powerful husky tones and strong vocal range.

Hypnumb appear to be a dynamic force to reckon with, unleashing their fearless vibrant rock onto an appreciative public. Crooked Magic incorporates growling soaring guitar with dynamic vocals, epic rhythm and luscious melody.

I thoroughly recommend having a listen.
