Text of our review is as follows… Thanks Missing link magazine!

Ishtar’s CD contains just two tracks but what it lacks in length it makes up for in solid musicianship.

Opener “The Enemy Within” is balls out hard rock overlaid with a technical and very catchy lead guitar melody. If there’s an art to mixing female vocals then whoever recorded this CD can give themselves a pat on the back because the singing sits nicely within the recording- not too overpowering which seems to be a common mistake some female fronted bands tend to make.

The second track ‘Plea’ features beautiful acoustic guitarring sounding similar to the song ‘Silk and steel’ performed by the late Criss Oliver of SAVATAGE.

ISHTAR shows great promise and according to the band’s guitarist Simon they’ve be venturing south of the Bombays to play some gigs in a town near you this year. Keep an eye out for them.

Rating 4 guitars out of 5.

About the author simone_ishtar

I am the Guitarist, songwriter and sometimes singer with Ishtar, a hard rock group based in Auckland that had quite a bit of buzz going in the past and is in the process of reforming. I could put up a whole bunch of other stuff about me and prob will at some time…
