Ep Review: Out Tonight 1

Thee Rum Coves new 4 track EP carves into your ears with an uncompromising rock energy that grabs you wholeheartedly and never relents in its quest to raise your heart beat and fire your soul.

From the first track Behind Your Smile you’re hit with the energy of the music, it’s a real surprising mix of funky retro style punk, the tight guitar riffs and subtle melodic vocal arrangements gel together so well that your hooked in and never released from its unyielding hold.

Jake Harding provides a rousing vocal performance with a controlled and robust melodic range that completes the tight punk ensemble sound perfectly, very reminiscent of the Buzzcocks in their hey day.

Each of the 4 tracks on this EP simply bursts with energy and passion, the punchy and sharp verses lead to upbeat and joyous choruses, fortified with spurts of harmonic backing vocals that sound so cool.

The quality of the recording is excellent, it’s clean but still retains an element of grit and a live energy that showcases the dynamic and upbeat nature of the songs perfectly. Recommended listening when you need a lift!
