Ep Review: Breathe 1

Auckland band Violet Highway have a new EP, and it’s a punch to the face, in a good way.

The 5 track EP, Breathe, is an assault to the senses, making no apologies for its extreme catchiness and superb musicianship. Violet Highway have always been a favourite and dependable kind of band, that only improve over time, watching their progression is half the excitement.

Vocalist/guitarist, Jacqui, Bassist, Ant and newcomer, Drummer, Nikki are a tight unit and if you’ve never seen them live, guaranteed, you’ll be a fan after even one song. Hypnotically impressive. Vocally on point, Breathe is a punk rock nugget full melody and total kick ass.

Go has the meatiest bass line and instantly draws you in, I’m a sucker for a good bass intro and this more than hits the spot. I also love the use of a horn section, that adds a lot of dimension to Friday Night and Charlotte hits with pure punchy punk tones. A tight band that only go from strength to strength. Go forth and check them out for yourselves, satisfaction guaranteed.
