Ep Review: Becoming 1

Having already reviewed the song and video for Track 1 No Revolution, and absolutely loving everything about it, I jumped at the chance to review this small 3-song EP by The Diamond Dead.

In my previous review, I described No Revolution as the female equivalent of Marilyn Manson in song sound and video style, an absolute classic and one you must check out. Crazy man!!

This Hawkes Bay band are grungy, dirty, with heavy dark bass and guitar lines, as well as in-your-face screaming female vocals. Punk, rock and metal at its best!

Track 2 – Slaughter carries on from No Revolution in the same disturbing fashion that spirals down into the pits of your darkest dreams. I can’t tell if the screams are real or just a frustrated reverb / echo pedal on a massive ego trip. It is insane and wonderful all at the same time.

Track 3 – Blood is yet another classic. The lyrics are pretty sick with “blood all over the me” and “string you up for all to see”, and they suit the music perfectly.

As I have said before if like Marilyn Manson you will love The Diamond Dead. Overall the Becoming EP is upbeat, rocky and polished. I can’t wait to see them live as I reckon the energy will be unreal.

A pity I can only give them 5 stars!!!! Go check them out now. I am blown away.
