Double Single Review: Shame On You / Throwaway Youth

Farandicus’ style is an amalgamation of the varied musical backgrounds of its members. Their latest dual release of Shame on You and Throwaway Youth will make you move.

Shame on You begins with a baseline groovy enough to get the people of Elmore City dancing. A fuzzy rhythm guitar bounces between your left and right speakers, before fully immersing you in the sound for the chorus. The song is driven by a steady performance on the kit, and soulful vocals.

When the vocalist sings the line “I don’t want no man child” you can hear the collective inhale of the kidults nationwide. The song keeps its sound fresh with a spoken section by MC Blaksawd, while the familiar guitar timbre ties the two sections together. Farandicus aren’t taking it from anyone. Shame on You wraps up with a distorted guitar solo over the top of the chorus and an epic harmonised final line.

The second track in the release is Throwaway Youth, and it’s just as fun as the first. It features the tell-tale components of a Farandicus banger: a rhythmic guitar line, an epic vocal breakdown, sassy lyrics and tidy kit.
