Deaths Door
As the headlining act for the night came onstage I was unsure what to expect having not seen these boys perform in well over a year, and it didn’t take long for the pub to be filled with the sound of Deaths Door.
Breakdowns and death growls filled out the majority of their set, and while there really wasn’t much of a crowd left by the time they went on the whole band moshing in unison helped get a dying crowd going, resulting in a dedicated line of moshers right up the front for the whole performance.
Early on in the show a guitarist broke a string onstage but the boys managed to push on through and keep playing regardless which I have to commend them for, and during the night various band members took turns jumping into the crowd to mosh out with their fans.
Now I have to admit that while the boys put on a good performance it didn’t all go so smoothly for them, I found out after the show that they missed sound check and I would like to take this time to use this as an example to all aspiring bands out there- Always do a sound check!
The mix of tones and volumes between guitars was a little off so while there was nothing wrong with what they were playing the sound ended up too muddy to hear anything clearly, and once again the drums could of been louder- ok that’s the third time I’ve said that in one day, I’m officially going to hell. But hey we all have off nights and I’m looking forward to catching the next show!
