With lyrics strongly representing Kiwiana and Dunedin life, they indicate their down to earth, fun nature. This comes through very clear in such songs as Gary’s Nuggety Neighbour and Macca while still being a big theme in the rest of the album. This is a band that takes music seriously, but doesn’t take themselves too seriously which is a great, refreshing change.
This is the third studio album for Dunedin’s Left Or Right and is a testament to their passion for making music. They seem to go from strength to strength with each album, refining and honing their sound.
I have seen these guys live a few times now and they never disappoint. The passion and creative chemistry between this tight-knit three piece is phenomenal and has to be experienced to be believed.
Standout tracks for me are definitely Gary’s Nuggety Neighbour with its upbeat fun feel and funky riffs, and closing track The Diamond Ray with its smooth, summery vibe and deeply entrancing vocals and lyrics.
