Pieter T has burst back on to the scene with a new name, PT, and an exciting new album Goliath.
The album cover is a collage of red and black with the title dominant in white. The title is a bit off-centre and when I asked PT about it in our recent interview, he simply said “Nothing and no-one is perfect”. With this album PT has taken a completely different direction, going for a more summer, electronic vibe. The videos he has also released give a similar feeling.
All the tracks seem to touch on similar subjects evolving around relationships; from being interested in someone, to moving on. The lyricism is a simple take on hearing about elements of a relationship. PT has combined these experiences with music that feels like a mix between a Summer road trip and a fun night out, which has the desired intention of making you want to move.
The track Signs has a Pacific vibe to it, with additional music elements normally associated with Pacific music. B.Wise features on the track Moving On – his vocals are deeper than PT’s which provides a nice harmony and melody to the track, bringing it to the next level. Another featuring artist worth mentioning is producer I.Amsolo who features on the impressive track Nobody Else.
King is one track with provides a great contrast. This track takes us back to the slow RnB music PT has previously released. His soulful vocals dominate the track as he sings about his relationship with God. He has done this in a nice and subtle way, which makes this one of my favourite tracks on the album.
This album may be completely different to what PT has released in the past, but this is something to be applauded for. Goliath bring PT’s soulful vocals to the future and if you were a fan of PT’s previous music, I recommend that you listen to this release – it’s different to what we’ve heard in the past, but it won’t take long before you’ll find yourself moving and enjoying it. Goliath is worth the wait and I’m interested to see what the future holds for PT.
