Tobias makes impressive debut with feel-good summer anthem ‘One Love’

New Plymouth-based Tobias – whose real name is Caleb Haapu – is best known as the voice of some of Sons of Zion’s biggest hits, including Drift Away, Come Home and Is That Enough feat Aaradhna. But now launching his highly-anticipated solo career, he delivers the goods with his debut single One Love.

One Love is a happy, catchy, pop track with dynamic percussion atop an evolving acoustic guitar riff, which makes you feel good. And that’s exactly what we need right now!

It is a simple love song, which focuses on reassurance. “We might put on weight, grow old, feel unattractive and insecure in this crazy world, but our love will never change.”

Caleb is widely considered one of New Zealand’s top vocalists and guitarists. Having spent 12 years touring the world and headlining New Zealand’s biggest festivals, with bands such as Katchafire and House of Shem he is no stranger to the music industry. But it was his time as the lead singer and guitarist for Sons of Zion in which he became a household name and face. The band’s hit song Drift Away sat at #1 on New Zealand Charts for 12 weeks and was named New Zealand’s most played song on radio, nominated for ‘Single of the Year’ and winning Best Roots Artist at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards.

One Love is only the beginning for Tobias, with more music on the horizon. And fans can expect pop, rock and roots, infused with powerhouse vocals and melodic guitars as he creates yet another legacy to last through the ages.
