Sleeping Village Announce Brand New Single ‘Are You Gonna Kill Me?’
After bewildering audiences across the country throughout July, Te Whanganui-A-Tara Septet Sleeping Village are about to share a first taste of their next full project – dreamy and unsettling single Are You Gonna Kill Me?. Orchestrated by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Oscar Alty, the band has been on the warpath since 2022, with no signs of slowing.
Straying from the bleak post-rock found on the band’s last record, the new track explores the realm of jazz and soul, with a circus freak twist. On this recording all seven members are captured performing together for the first time. The occasion was captured by producer/local music superhero Connor Lyttle (Macho Macho). With its high quality production Are You Gonna Kill Me? sits on a higher shelf than anything previously heard from the Village.
