Silas Futura Releases Infectious First Single Precious Off Upcoming EP Pluto
Fresh out of Red Bull studios, rising Tamaki Makaurau–based musician Silas Futura, FKA Bobandii, is hitting the pavement running, sharing his first single titled Precious, off upcoming EP Pluto due out in March next year. The easy carefree vibe of Precious encapsulates the happy confidence of this prolific young artist finding his stride as he embarks on a new musical vision leading into 2021.

Precious blends bouncing hip-hop beats with Silas’ fast-paced rapping across charmingly melodic verses. The collab naturally clicked into a place of perfection after a two year incubation period, before it was recorded during lockdown. “Smoke has always been so generous with his time and music. I’m mad grateful for his work and his nature toward everything, it’s very refreshing to be around. It’s so cool to finally release something we’ve worked on together after such a long time.”

A sense of gratitude and love for family and place lies at the heart of Precious, and lyrically it is an ode to the bliss and harmony we find in everyday life when we simply surrender to the flow. It tells the story of his blissful, happy upbringing in Warkworth, along with the importance of his family’s influence towards his development into a growing human of this earth.
With support from New Zealand on Air, the track and music video delves into archival footage and photography of Silas’ whanau experiences from early childhood. “When we shot the video, I wanted to show my friends from Auckland all the things I value about my whanau, and my hometown, Warkworth. And Fable, (regular collab partner) came along to check it all out, so it only made sense for him to be in the video. We are all on some magical shit, so of course the video had to be about all of us”, explains Silas.
This new chapter in the book of the multi-faceted creative that is Silas Futura, continues his impressive and confident musical evolution. An excellent antidote to the global uncertainty that lingers after a year best left behind, Precious is the perfect, dreamy, summer anthem.
