Rippon Festival Tickets On Sale Soon

With only days before tickets to Wanaka’s hugely popular Rippon Festival go on sale, organisers are preparing to welcome in the Year of The Dragon with the phenomenal 2012 line-up.

Artists on the bill for the Waitangi Weekend event include AHoriBuzz, The Datsuns, Kora, Katchafire, TrinityRoots, Street Chant, The Yoots, Lord Echo, Orchestra of Spheres, Colour Classic, Sunshine Sound System, and Disasteradio, covering musical genres from afro-disco to pop grunge, with some sexomouse free jazz in between.

Street Chant’s Emily Littler is awaiting her first ever Rippon performance, stating, “after a long winter in the Auckland CBD, the thing in my life I am most looking forward to at the moment is being in Wanaka in February playing Rippon Festival.”

Mike Fabulous, founder and guitarist of Lord Echo agrees. “I played the first Rippon Festival as a teenager in 1998 and so it has always held a special place in my heart – as well as the best scenery, hospitality and audience size of any festival in the country.”

Spokesperson Lisa Simmers notes the biggest change to previous events revolves around the new hall on the vineyard site, and advises that “certain speedy ticket purchasers will gain access to the stunning Rippon Hall.” Festival Director Lynne Christie adds that with 400 fewer tickets available to the public this time as they assess the impact of the new hall on the Rippon site, organisers are expecting the tickets to sell quickly. Christie urges the public to purchase tickets only through the authorised channels to ensure no disappointment on the day.

The tickets, which cost $132, go on sale on October 3rd (presales from September 29th) through Ticketek and Pembroke Wines (Wanaka).
