New Zealand Music Hall of Fame Legend Jon Toogood Releases New Single ‘Last of The Lonely Gods’
After spending 30 years at the forefront of Aotearoa’s music scene, celebrated rock artist Jon Toogood releases the first taste of his first ever solo venture today.
Piano-driven, lyrically reflective and optimistic, new single Last of The Lonely Gods serves as an introduction to Jon Toogood’s forthcoming album.
Releasing on Aotearoa’s Matariki Day, a day to reflect, celebrate and plan; it’s fitting the song’s theme serves as reminder to people that there is power in their experience, instilling a sense of hope that “things will start to turn around”.
It’s been nothing short of a legendary career for Jon Toogood to date. Writing, singing, performing, mentoring, directing, producing, DJ-ing, programming and promoting; Jon, as part of Shihad and supergroup The Adults, has enjoyed 6 NZ #1 Albums, 15 NZ Top 40 albums and 25 NZ Top 40 Singles.
In stark contrast to his globally recognized band Shihad – a band Jon founded more than 35 years ago with fellow AC/DC loving drummer Tom Larkin – Last of the Lonely Gods serves up a beautifully stripped back sound.
“This is a song to a dear friend who had been going through a rough time and who was reassessing their entire life.It was basically a message to say, although things look bad at the moment every day is a chance to start again.”
