Neive Strang Releases ‘Gather Round’
Indie artist Neive Strang is back with the release of her second single, Gather Round, from her forthcoming album Find Me in the Rabbit Hole, set to release on April 4th. The single, written in 2023, explores themes of self reflection and the tension between personal comfort and social pressures. Neive shares, “I wrote this song during a time when I preferred my simple comforts and indulging in thought, choosing not to engage socially despite the pressure I felt — pressure that mostly came from within.”
The accompanying music video for Gather Round was shot and directed by the album’s producer, Sean Donnelly (SJD), and features a vibrant, bold colour palette, softened by billowing sheets that create a serene atmosphere around Neive’s emotive performance. This striking visual captures the song’s themes of introspection and solitude.
Neive’s Find Me in the Rabbit Hole is due for release in just under two months and for the first time fans can expect a limited vinyl release from the artist, available for pre-orders at Relics, the renowned local record store in Ōtepoti.
In discussing the album, Neive reflects on the personal journey it represents: “Although this isn’t a concept album, these songs were written over the course of a few years with the earliest in 2021 and the latest in 2024. The growth and healing I hear in these songs takes me from start to end every time. It has captured some of the most transformative years of my life, which can now be reflected on forever. It’s for me a very honest and raw album, and Sean Donnelly has handled it beautifully in the producing department. We are both very proud of it.”
Alongside this album, Neive is proud to announce the launch of her independent label, Polly B Records, which will debut with the release of Find Me in the Rabbit Hole including the limited vinyl edition.
