Molly Devine Releases ‘Shades of Blue’ on 1 July

Shades of Blue is an otherworldly and empowering soundscape about wairua (spirit/soul), created collaboratively by Molly Devine and guitarist James Bulter while they resided across the country from each other.

Molly lay down the basis of the track in Ōtepoti Dunedin and contacted James (her former classmate from Otago University) who now lives in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland through social media to see if by chance if he was interested in laying down some guitar. He responded with the mesmerizing guitar lines that feature in the song now. Molly has sent him every song she’s written since and Shades of Blue is just the beginning of many songs they have worked on together.

On Christmas Day last year, Molly’s parents and the family dogs went to iconic spots around her hometown Tāhuna Queenstown to film the music video on her Dad’s iPhone.
