Makeshift Parachutes Release New Single ‘Ferrari Gosling’

Auckland by-way-of Houston psych-rock four-piece Makeshift Parachutes release their larger than life track Ferarri Gosling, out today on all streaming platforms. Treating Auckland fans to their first live show of 2019, the band will be celebrating this new single with a release show at St Kevin’s Arcade’s Wine Cellar on August 10th, with support from Girl Named Fred and ORBJKS. Unleashing a wave of expansive, fizzing synthesizers and a punchy rock beat, Ferrari Gosling is bold from the outset. Shifting time signatures are grounded in infectious guitar melodies, soaring lead lines, and vocalist Christian McCollum’s crystalline vocal layers cutting through the propulsive sonic wash. Lush melodic hooks climb out from every corner, as Sharif O’Connor (guitar/keys), Daniel O’Connor (bass/vocals), Christian McCollum (vocals/guitar) and Arthur Brewer (drums/keys) weave a psych-wave revival into this euphoric new track.

The Ferrari Gosling release show will take place on August 10th at Auckland’s Wine Cellar. This will be the band’s first live show since their mesmerizing performance at the 2018 AUM New Years Eve Festival.

Formed in 2013, Makeshift Parachutes is a project born out of a jam session in a wine cellar in Houston, Texas. The band relocated to Auckland, New Zealand in 2015, a move which saw them embarking on an extensive set of tour dates across the country from 2015-2018. During this time, they released a 5 track EP Mr. Happy, as well as the subsequent fan favourite singles King Eeyore’s Xanax Party and The Hole.
