Lady Larisa Releases 'four Walls'

Four Walls evokes a sound from an era when the jazz clubs were cool and the stage hot. Think old school jazz meets 60’s sass.

The song is on Lady Larisa’s yet to be released debut EP, Honeychild and is a story of listening to your instinct, and acting on it.

Lady Larisa is an Aotearoa born jazz artist / songwriter with a wealth of international influence. “I lived in LA and would spend plenty of time in New Orleans and New York. The place was alive with incredible artists and I learnt a lot.

I’m a huge fan of the vocal styles of singers like Peggy Lee, Julie London and Etta James”.

Based in Hawkes Bay now, Lady Larisa is known for her vivacious stage presence and warm, sultry tone. She opened for Michael Buble at his only New Zealand concert.

The Honeychild EP was written over lockdown. It was then recorded with the band playing live, on vintage equipment & through an analogue desk at The Armoury, Wellington. Creative NZ supported the project.

The band are absolutely sizzling:

Ed Zuccollo (TrinityRoots, Hollie Smith, Kita) – piano, Rick Cranson (Little Bushman, Kita) – drums, Johnny Lawrence (Thomas Oliver, Hollie Smith, Rob Ruha, Louie Baker) – double bass and Barrett Hocking (The Black Seeds) – trumpet.

Honeychild was produced and mixed by Thomas Oliver. Thomas also lends his talent by singing backing vocals and playing acoustic & electric guitar on a couple of tracks.

Four Walls will be released Thursday Nov 12th by DRM

Fri Nov 13th Larisa will attend the Phoenix Summit (Say hi!)

Sat Nov 14th Lady Larisa performing at The Bamboo Tiger, K Road

The full Honeychild EP will be released in Feb 2021 with vinyl hard copies to compliment and launched with a sparkling show at Toitoi, the Hawkes Bay Opera House.
