Kokomo Celebrates 30 Years With New Album

Long-standing blues ‘n’ roots band Kokomo are celebrating 30 years of making music with the release of A Little Something From The Attic, an album of out-takes, rarities and demos curated from 30 years of making music together.

The Bay of Plenty 6-piece originally formed in 1991 under the name ‘Kokomo Blues’, an acoustic trio dedicated to playing early pre-war blues. As the current millennium arrived the band grew larger and switched to playing original songs.

A Little Something From The Attic will be the band’s thirteenth album. An extensive hunt through the Kokomo vaults revealed 16 tracks, none of which have previously encountered the words “digital platform”.

The songs stretch from a late-90s alternative mixes and an unused film commission to old blues songs and live tracks from the 2000s, and very different unheard demos of Kokomo songs from the past decade. Some may be familiar but even the most ardent Kokomo completist will discover previously unknown recordings.

Due to the nature of the recordings the odd guest shows up, including a Narc, a Jews Brother and a Warratah. A Little Something From The Attic is being released by Boatshed Records for sale on Limited Edition CD and through Bandcamp. It can be streamed on all the usual digital platforms.
