Super-dynamic duo Hybrid Rose and Fanfickk have teamed up again on Solitude, an ethereal synth-pop anthem for introverts. This marks the pair’s third collaboration, after last year’s high-energy Just Press Play, and Hybrid Rose’s remix of Fanfickk’s Cotton Candy.

While most songs might lament loneliness, Solitude celebrates it, because being alone isn’t so bad when you can hang out at home, pop on your favourite onesie, and watch TV with your cat.

Solitude is the lead single to Hybrid Rose’s third studio album Awkwardly Eccentric, available late 2019. The song is being released on April 12 along with a nightcore remix.

Hybrid Rose Bio

Hybrid Rose (Rose Muollo-Gray) is a solo act, and a Cyberspace character, living in Wellington (NZ) as a bedroom producer/artist. When she isn’t doing her studies, she spends her days locked up in her room, studying art history, expanding her variety in fashion and producing catchy retro synth wave jams. Although she doesn’t really consider herself to be a producer, more of a musician/artist.

She becomes inspired by artists like David Bowie, Prince, Lady Gaga and Kesha. Her musical character showcases the embodiment of princess peach in a k-hole, picking up where Zowie left off and if Lady Gaga really did have a dick.

In her mind, Rose describes herself as ‘eccentrically awkward’ and her visuals are heavily influenced by 1960’s retro space art. Her character dives into the psychedelic wonders of space-pop music, not getting involved in the commercial music industry but aspires to become a commercial character with her individual style.

Fanfickk Bio

Laptop-wielding idealist Fanfickk is a New Zealand-based electro-pop star, world famous in her own house. She writes, sings and produces in her closet under the watchful eye of Dumpling the cat.

Fanfickk’s debut EP, Stay Shy, was released in February, 2016. The 4-track EP featured the song Shreds, described by music blog The Revue as “a shimmering electro-pop track that has a touch of Grimes, a dash of Goldfrapp, a sprinkle of Zola Jesus, and a whole lot of Kiwi spirit.”

Since then, aural highlights have included the audio meet-cute Cotton Candy (featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists in Germany and Switzerland), the riot grrrl-esque Pity Party, and a collaboration with fellow NZ artist Hybrid Rose on the high-energy Just Press Play.
