Dunedin indie rockers L. Hotel are bringing the heat to this New Zealand summer, with their high-energy, pop-punk influenced new single and video Dead Ends.

Listen to Dead Ends HERE

With punchy riffs, gang vocals, walls of guitars and hooks for days, L. Hotel smash it out of the park on Dead Ends. Reminiscent of the Blink-182 pop-punk sound the band listened to growing up, the track marks a new beginning of a bigger sound for L. Hotel.

“This track, and the upcoming EP, is us really coming into our own sound and exploring a little more of a heavier side to what people might expect from us,” explain the band. “The track features a group vocal chorus which bolsters its feel good sound, and is best played LOUD. Some tracks just need to push the limits of your headphones and we think this is one of them.”

Also out today is the music video; a visual depiction of the song, which also cleverly pokes fun at New Zealand’s lad culture around rugby and features a large contingent of L. Hotel’s friends in Dunedin.

“The B-roll of the music video is a lot of dropped rugby balls, poorly coordinated scrums and bad tackles, but it was a LOT of fun,” they explain. “Our bassist Dave plays the role of the disappointed coach who hates his job, and there was an excellent five minute section where (without direction) Dave rattled off excuse after excuse of why the team was playing so poorly. Each time the camera panned around everyone else used it as an opportunity to laugh.”

“That being said, the video captures the cheeky, happy-go-lucky, fun nature that L. Hotel has always been about. It’s a song and video with a serious message (be comfortable in yourself/you don’t have to live up to the expectations that others put on you), but we still had an incredible amount of fun making it.”

Dead Ends is the second single to be released from the bands forthcoming sophomore EP Dead Ends, following the addictive first single Game Plan’. Made up of Jono Everts, Mitchell Sizemore (Hot Donnas), Dave Borrie (The Bachelorette NZ Season 2), and Angus Cleland (Emily Alice, Summer Thieves), the guys have built a reputation for their seemingly unlimited supply of energy – an element which has seen their live show capture success around Aotearoa since 2021.

Dead Ends gives an epic glimpse into L. Hotel’s upcoming EP, set for release in the first half of 2025. Jam this loud in your car and get ready for more!
