Gabriel Bond Releases Debut Single ‘History’

Gabriel Bond is a singer-songwriter with a passion for honest, vulnerable lyricism and melodic acoustic riffs, with a repertoire that blends upbeat anthems with melancholic ballads. Playing guitar and singing since he was five years old, his influences range from artists such as John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Maggie Rogers and Ed Sheeran. Gabriel began writing original music in his final year of high school, and followed this by studying a degree in Popular Music at the University of Auckland.

History is about the feeling of the person you love growing out of your relationship, and not being ready for it to end. The song begins by admitting the faults in the relationship, but builds into a declaration of love, and a willingness to do anything to get it back.

The track starts with a sparse piano backing, and builds throughout, adding layers of electric guitar and synth, with a driving drum feel progressing from the second verse.

Led by a smooth lead vocal from Gabriel Bond, as well as multiple layers of harmonies, and produced by long-time collaborator Chris Bates, this song is bound to get you in your feels.
