‘Feed Darklings Feed’ the debut album from Black Velvet Butterfly

Black Velvet Butterfly is the project of New Zealand musician James Castady-Kristament.

With a release date set for January 29th 2021 Black Velvet Butterfly’s debut album Feed Darklings Feed will be a free giveaway.

The 10 track album of doom and gothic metal will be available on all digital platforms for streaming as well as being given away on the website www.bandcamp.com where supporters can download the album free of charge or pay what they think the album is worth.

After releasing a single every month for a little over a year and releasing two amazing animated music videos, Black Velvet Butterfly have gained a modest following.

“This is a relatively new project and the first album. So hopefully by giving away the album it will help build the audience base even further and make a foundation for future releases and albums”

The man behind the music James Castady-Kristament was previously known as a rapper under the moniker JCK. His love of all things goth started many years ago and when applied to his Hip-Hop music made for some interesting juxtaposition. But it was time to align his directions and match the image with the sound and that was the start of Black Velvet Butterfly.

“I was really hoping to form a band, but finding suitable musicians who were all into the same musical style in such a small country in a close enough vicinity for regular practices just turned out to be really hard. I had some interest mainly from bass players, but musicians being what they are, all ended up flaking on me. So I just carried on making the music under the intended band name Black Velvet Butterfly”

The album contains re-mixed and re-mastered versions of 10 of the previously released singles. Raising the bar in quality and making a point of difference between the album and the singles already available on digital platforms.

Over the year Black Velvet Butterfly has had some great wins. With all of the releases being picked up by radio stations and playlists nationally and internationally. Also completing several live performances and interviews on podcasts and internet music shows and music reviews in digital media and review showcases.

Even more impressive are the two music videos, painstakingly produced and animated by the man himself.

Feed Darklings Feed is an impressive and highly entertaining project and no momentum will be lost after the album release, with the next musical instalments already in the proverbial vault awaiting their turn in the spotlight.
