Emma Dilemma Releases Surprise EP ‘Ouch My Head Hurts’

Aotearoa-based artist Emma Dilemma returns with a surprise release: Ouch My Head Hurts, a bold and unfiltered five-track EP that delves deep into the complexities of mental health, heartbreak, resilience, and self-destruction — all wrapped in a wildly eclectic soundscape.
Known for her unapologetically honest lyrics and post-genre approach to songwriting, Emma Dilemma seamlessly blends pop, rock, hip hop, country, and industrial influences into an emotionally potent release that defies convention and embraces contradiction.
The EP includes previously released singles Ready or Not, Libra, and Bed All Day, alongside two brand new tracks:
That Bitch Is Crazy – a distorted, industrial club meltdown about substance-fuelled self-destruction.
You Only Hate Me When You’re Sad – a country-tinged pop-rock tongue-in-cheek confrontation with a gaslighting ex.
“Each song came from a moment where my brain just needed to release something — whether that was pain, rage, sadness, or clarity,” says Emma. “It’s a collection of sonic journal entries, and I hope people hear themselves in it.”
Ouch My Head Hurts is a testament to Emma Dilemma’s versatility as both a performer and a writer — proof that vulnerability, when paired with bold creativity, makes for powerful music.
Emma Dilemma has been making an impact in the Aotearoa music scene, unveiling her debut album Spit in 2022, which debuted to critical acclaim and landed at #3 on the New Zealand Official Album Charts. In a modern world where traditional music-making rules no longer apply, Emma Dilemma stands as a beacon of artistic freedom, defying limits by merging music, art, comedy, social activism, and politics into an inseparable whole.
