Cloudy Releases New Single ‘On The Edge’
After two years in the making, alternative singer-songwriter, Cloudy is ready to unveil the lead single off of her long-awaited sophomore EP, Raincloud which is set for release later in the year.
The EP’s lead single, On The Edge, will be released on the 28th of July 2023 and sets the scene for a new era within Cloudy’s sonic world and will give listeners an undeniable sense of anticipation for this much-awaited project.
Since the release of her last single, Worth It, back in 2021, Cloudy has been working away in the background, developing her sound and exploring new sonic realms that seamlessly blend elements of classic singer-songwriter sensibilities with bedroom pop and sprinklings of 90’s-inspired indie-rock.
For this new project, Cloudy has had all hands on deck, recruiting the production of locally esteemed producer, Morgan Allen (Erny Belle, Harper Finn, No Comply), to complement and expand the sound of Cloudy’s work, created with a full live band in tow. Throughout the process of this collaboration, Cloudy has uncovered what she describes as her most authentic sound yet.
A song that is sure to strike the heart of anyone who has faced impending heartbreak, On The Edge explores the anxiety and angst that arises when feelings begin to change within a relationship, whether it be familial, plutonic, or romantic. It also laments on facing the unknown within that connection, speaking about the doubt that comes with not knowing how true honesty may impact the fragile nature of a relationship. The song also holds space for the feeling of acceptance, reminding listeners that no matter what happens to that relationship in the aftermath, they’ll be okay. Ultimately, On The Edge reminds listeners that jumping into open honesty and freedom of expression is a leap of faith that everyone must take.
Serving up a perfect blend of bedroom pop and 90’s indie rock, On The Edge found sonic inspiration in the likes of Radiohead, Mazzy Star, Avril Lavigne, and Beabadoobee. Striking a fine balance between bittersweet nostalgia and hope, On The Edge aims to give people a sense of grounding comfort.
This first release also includes a special B-side track from the vault – an intimate acoustic version of Cloudy’s much loved 2019 single I’ll Stay.
