Award Winning Jazz Fusion Band From Ōtepoti, Emily Alice, Release Their Debut Ep, 'hindsight'

Gravitational is the lead single of the EP, and is the most similar to Emily Alice’s previous releases. It is inspired by the similarities between human relationships and that of the moon and the tide. The Bossa Nova groove is abruptly interrupted by an emotive guitar solo – designed to invoke feelings mirrored in the lyrics. Emily Alice showcases their knack for composing nostalgic harmonies – even on a first listen.

Hindsight centers around esprit de l’escalier – and having a greater understanding of a situation only after it has occurred. The EP aims to narrate both the comforting and haunting nature of retrospection. The four tracks explore contrasting experiences of hindsight, showcasing the confidence to explore numerous musical cavities as a group, in order to tell a story.
