Art of Remembrance 2025 – free musical evening of tribute taking place on ANZAC Eve

Art of Remembrance 2025 is a free musical evening of tribute taking place on ANZAC Eve (Thursday 24 April) at Kāhui St David’s in Auckland. Now in its 10th year, the event will honour the Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps (RNZNC), recognising the service and sacrifice of both military and civilian nurses, alongside all veterans and their whānau.
A special highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of a commemorative bronze plaque honouring the RNZNC, led by Lieutenant Colonel David Foote, Chief Nursing Officer and RNZNC Regimental Colonel.
Hosted in the stunningly restored St David’s Memorial Church in Grafton – originally dedicated as The Soldiers’ Memorial Church – the evening combines music, storytelling, and ceremony in a powerful tribute.
We’d love to welcome you to attend in person. We’d also love to explore the opportunity of an interview, with:
- Paul Baragwanath, Director of Friends of St David’s Trust Kāhui Rangi Pūpū
- Georgina Greville, senior nurse at Middlemore Hospital whose immediate family included 5 World War One service members, will share the experiences of her grandmother and great aunt who served in Egypt, Lemnos and the Western Front
- Soprano Opera Singer, Felicity Tomkins
Highlights include:
- Performances by Felicity Tomkins, Michelle Thorne-McHugh, and the Off Broadway Big Band
- Veterans’ Parade, ceremonial addresses, and taonga pūoro
- Reflections from Georgina Greville, whose grandmother and great aunt served in WWI
- ANZAC biscuits, soup, and tea served in the Great Hall
