Alba Rose returns with irresistible dance-soul single ‘Subside (Wasting My Days)’
Dive into the pulsating energy of Alba Rose’s latest dance anthem, Subside (Wasting My Days), a fiery yet effusive track that beckons listeners to break free from ruminations and surrender to the rhythm of their bodies. Crafted in a period of shifting relationships and uncertain futures, the song captures the tension between fearing change and the liberation of letting go. Rose encourages listeners to embrace the unpredictability of life, a place where the only certainty is change.
Rose leads the listener into the song with gentle vocals before progressing into harmonic layers, and culminating in an irresistible, reverberating beat. Subside (Wasting My Days) is a sound reminiscent of work by artists like Disclosure, Jungle and Rüfüs Du Sol, blended with soulful vocals similar to those of Charlotte Day Wilson, Elder Island and Lucy Rose.
This is the first song off Rose’s sophomore six track EP, featuring a collection of indie-soul and electronica tunes. With her previous single Mountains featuring in the Hot Singles Official Music Charts and the NZ Top 20 Chart, the track received national and international media coverage, including on some of New Zealand’s top radio stations.
Rose wrote Subside (Wasting My Days), at a time when many of her friends were departing Aotearoa, whilst she was rediscovering herself and finding her feet following a break-up. During a time where it felt like much of her life was out of control, she found herself overthinking and fixating on the small stuff. This song played a crucial role in providing clarity and perspective.
“Writing this song helped me realise where I was directing my energy. I recognised that I was spending more time thinking and worrying about life’s natural challenges rather than being present, taking action, and simply focusing on what was in front of me. This is my reminder to go out and embrace life’s simple pleasures, the daily joys that make us happy and who we are”.
This Summer Rose will be performing live at Beast of a Feast Music Festival in Tauranga, performing at The Yard with No Cigar in January with and headlining a show collaboratively with London-based artist Len Blake in Auckland in February.
