Theia talks about September Pop-Up Shows and Surprises
Theia

So, you’ve been busy since you dropped your EP last year – tell us a bit about what you have been up to in the last 12 months?
I’ve been writing new songs, traveling and performing it’s been amazing and this year has gone so very fast!
You’ve got some pop-up shows coming up later this month September 12, 13 and 14, tell us a bit about those? What can people expect at the shows?
I’m performing in Auckland, Hamilton and Palmerston North in some cosy venues, so each show will be super intimate. I’m only bringing my keyboardist to keep the vibe small but don’t be mistaken because we still fill the space with sound! Expect all the songs you know, and a few super cool newbies and demos!
You’ve done quite a few big festivals and supports now, including Homegrown, Bay Dreams and R&V – as well as supporting Sia and Charli XCX (among others) – what would you say was your highlight so far?
Definitely supporting Sia with MØ and Charli was a highlight. It was my first time performing in a stadium (Mt Smart) and hanging with them was surreal as MØ was the first gig I went to years ago. Supporting Portugal The Man was fab too at The Powerstation. It’s been amazing when I really think about it.
Who would be your dream international artist to support?
There are so many artists I love, and I’ve already ticked some off the list it’s crazy. Gaga, St Vincent, Björk, Rihanna, Princess Nokia etc etc.
Tell us your worst ever gig story.
My gigs have all been really great!
What does the next 6 months hold for you? Any plans for international touring?
More travel, releasing more music and onto making even more! I’m always writing and feeling the buzz.
Any new releases coming up?
I’m dropping a surprise next week! Keep a look out bbs.
