New Zealand trio Uncle Monkey are enjoying increasing success as they continue to promote their debut album ‘Same Planet Different Orbit’ and second album ‘The Great Attractor’.

Public and industry support for the Wellington trio has gathered momentum with the band performaning an impressive line-up of gigs in Australia and New Zealand.

Since the band’s formation in 1997, Uncle Monkey has won the Wellington Battle of the Bands, conducted a successful mini-world tour, won the Australasian music award ‘Unleash your Music Online’ and performed at the New Zealand Songwriter Awards.

Uncle Monkey has received an enthusiastic response from the domestic and international music industry with favourable comparisons made to Crowded House and The Whitlams.

In 1999, the band completed a tour of London, Manchester, Alaska, Hollywood, Australia and New Zealand, supporting the likes of Australian legend Paul Kelly and kiwi Dave Dobbyn. Uncle Monkey recently supported Zed at the Canterbury University’s end-of-term party.

Throughout all of this, the trio maintains one of the most impressive websites seen of an emerging band, indicating
their sights are set firmly on the future.
