The Have formed in the early days of 2002, while still in the clutches of high school.
Their first notable shows including opening for Pacifier and Grinspoon in their hometown of Wanganui and playing at the World Series event in Auckland.
They caught the eye of Converse and Red Bull who both sponsored the band.
In 2003 the band played at the Big Day Out, toured the North Island with Aussie Rock n Roll hero Jimmy Barnes, supported Betchadupa, Blindspott, Evermore and PanAm. They were privileged to perform at a BFM Live To Air and the Juice TV Live At Galatos gig, enjoyed a slot on the main stage of the True Colours Festival at the St James Theatre in Auckland and they also performed at the V8 Supercars weekend and Paihia on New Years Eve.
Their first single Right On was released in December 2002 and was in the bFM Top 10 for a month, supported by the B.Net and playlisted on Channel Z. It also appeared on the Red Surf Compilation and the V8 Supercars Compilation.
The video, directed by Greg Riwai (Fish n Clips), was a finalist in the Breakthrough Artist award at the 2003 Juice TV Awards. Right On was also used in a Canterbury Advertisement for the Rugby World Cup and in an X Box advertisement!
Their next single The Fuzz was the first track on Indie Hit Disc 24 (ahead of The Datsuns and Scribe!) and was instantly added to bFM, appeared in the bFM Top 10. It also was added to Channel Z, Bayrock and The Generator. The video was also immediately added to Juice TV and C4.
