Miz Ima Starr

Miz Ima Starr

Miz Ima Starr is a singing, wisecracking cabaret phenomenon of stage and small screen and the comic creation of performer and filmmaker Charles Bracewell. Her upcoming debut long-player My Heart’s A Drummer is the long-awaited follow-up to her critically acclaimed first EP release Pop Object, which was reviewed as “pure pop genius” by DNA Magazine. My Heart’s A Drummer is a non-stop thrill-ride of up-tempo pop gems written and produced with musical maestros Marshall Smith and Tom Fox from kiwi studio The Sound Room. The album follows hard on the heels of her recently-released five-track CD American Pie. The Don McLean folk-rock classic is Starr’s signature song, and the finale of her long-running cabaret show Hello Miz American Pie. The EP also features two new mixes of Tripping, Starr’s cult dance hit from 1999. This legendary collaboration with Baitercell was a remake of the 90’s rock classic by New Zealand’s Push Push. The song hit number four on the alternative radio charts, was selected to be a part of the soundtrack for the Kiwi film I’ll Make You Happy, and was released by the famous Flying Nun label on the film’s official soundtrack album.
