Meterman are a three-piece band incorporating a jarring blend of sonic rock music with angular outlines. Formed in 1998, Meterman demonstrate their presence with pinpoint timing and minimalism mixed with solid song structure.
Meterman have toured extensively throughout New Zealand, and have embarked on tours throughout Europe and North America, and have been the backing band as part of The Damo Suzuki Network when he toured New Zealand in 2004. The band’s potent live presence has gained them invaluable crowd support wherever they play.
Meterman’s debut album The Silver Age was released in May 2001 through Midium Records that saw tracks playlisted on BBC’s John Peel show. Other recordings include the self-released City Hum 12″ in 2000, ZK-EP in 1999 and Hemispheres in 2002, a 12″ split vinyl with the Chicago band Defender released on American label Some Odd Pilot Records.
2002 saw Meterman release their second studio album, Reset Start Reset wich was nominated as Best Rock Release at the 2003 New Zealand College Radio b-Net music awards.
With complex time signatures impossibly melding into flowing groove, the band lulls the audience into a false sense of security before shattering it with sonic squalls and monster drums.
