Deej Cooper has been writing and releasing music in New Zealand since 2012, and since 2018 has been working with producer Tim Bennett to create richly arranged, thoughtful, and inventive albums.

Their first album, 2018’s If Something Should Happen was a moody, introspective piece of Orchestral Folk, and was followed up by the Pondskater EP which carried on the tone.
The second album, 2020’s To Do Something extended the musical pallette beyond strictly the orchestra to create a fuzzy, introspective sound.

The Spoke EP that followed, and the 3rd LP To The Matter brought a lighter, brighter tone, straying into Folk-Pop. Thematically, this LP looks at relationship dynamics between people, which the next EP Ordinary Love narrows in on.

And now, 2025 see’s the release of the 9-Track LP The Future’s Not What It Used To Be, a departure from the folk groundings of the previous LP’s into a range of New Wave sounds to match the Man vs Society themes brought forward.
