Big Blue Blanket was an eclectic punk rock band from Hawkes Bay formed in 1996 and active until 2000. The band released 4 EP’s and 1 full-length album. The band played along side acts such as Head Like A Hole, Shihad, Garageland, King Loser, Your Mother (USA), Tadpole, Muckhole, Hello Sailor, Balance, Ten Foot Pole & Gas Huffer (USA) as well as playing high-profile festivals of the time Vans Warped Tour 1998 and Sweetwaters 1999.
Big Blue Blanket has reunited briefly to perform locally in 2006 and 2007.
