Betchadupa was an Auckland rock band fronted by Neil Finn’s son Liam. Betchadupa was formed in the late 90s, around the nucleus of second-generation rock musicians Matt Eccles and Liam Finn.

The two formed a musical partnership in their early teens that, with the addition of friends Garland and Bramley, has resulted in two fine EP’s and a top 10 NZ album for the Flying Nun label. After some top gigs in NZ and Australia throughout 2002/3 inlcuding an Australian tour with Pearl Jam and Queens of the Stone Age, the band moved to the US market and they also performed at a showcase gig at the 2003 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Formerly known as Lazy Boy, they released the single Brighter Sound on the soundtrack to the Australian movie ‘Cut’, before changing their name to Betchadupa.

Betchadupa’s album The Alphabetchadupa was released in 2002 and enjoyed a three week stay in the top 10 NZ Album Charts peaking at #2.
